I think I might be a bit of an old fashioned foodie when it comes to salsa because I was a tad hesitant when I saw the PC Mango Salsa. I like tomato salsa. A lot. Mango??? Not so sure.
I am also not a big fan of tomatillos so this was not going to be an easy sell for me.
This salsa is super wet: water, lime juice, lemon juice, white vinegar, agave syrup…. There is a lot of juice so if you use it on tacos I recommend using a slotted spoon.
I also found it just too sweet, again. That said, it is a tad refreshing but adding fruit to meat is not something I enjoy at all. Tomato with meat is the rare exception. With tortilla chips and bean dip it was fine but I did not like it with my chicken quesadilla. Too wet and sweet.
Reg on the other hand LOVED it. He thought it was great and was shocked when I told him that the yellowy orange pieces were mango, he thought it was corn. He dislikes mango but totally enjoyed every bite that was topped with PC Mango Salsa.
This was a long shot for me and just did not do it for me so I give it a three out of five wooden spoons. Anyone else who does not have an issue of sweet and fruit with meat will probably give it a minimum of four out of five wooden spoons.
I applaud them for making a super fresh salsa though and expect I will be in the minority for this one.

I was going to say I hate mango – one of the few fruits I don’t like. Having said that, the PEI Preserve Company makes a Peach Salsa which is delicious!

Isn’t that funny Tammy?! I LOVE mango but I wasn’t a fan and Reg doesn’t like mango but loved this salsa. You just never know!
