PC Vanilla Soft Frosted Cookies
I started off looking for the PC Vanilla Soft Frosted Cookies in the bakery department. Which I could not find anywhere. I had to get help.
The staff member took me to the cookies and I realized why I was having such a problem. They had not updated their packaging yet! Yes, I could find the official PC chocolate version but beside it?
It looked like another company’s cookie. Which… I guess it was! It also looked like the kind of cookie I would never buy. It looked all fake and kid-oriented and so I thought it would taste stale and be hard and dried out.
Well was I ever wrong! I do not think I could have been more wrong. These cookies were absolutely delicious. To people like Reg who think desserts should always have some chocolate in them you might find them boring but me? Divine! I mean it!
With a cup of tea, these cookies melted in your mouth. So soft, the icing was pretty good and overall the flavour was very vanilla-y… I was absolutely impressed and to be quite honest, fell in love with this cookie. I have had them for days and treat myself to one a day and they still taste great so they have great shelf-life too and are peanut-free. One box is $3.99 and there are no artificial colour or flavours used, even in the sprinkles.
I give this product five out of five wooden spoons. I still can’t believe it! I usually HATE store-bought cookies.
Heat & Go Vegetable Samosas & Sausage Rolls
I found the Heat & Go Vegetable Samosas & Sausage Rolls before the frozen food aisle in one of the display bins. I wanted to also pick up the Lemon Fruit on the Bottom Greek Yogurt and the Margherita Stone Baked Thin Crust Pizza but they were not there! Oh well…
Normally I never get samosas because they are usually so spicy I can’t taste anything and they just burn my mouth off. The PC Heat & Go Vegetable Samosas are spicy but more than just edible.
You get four frozen samosas for $4.99. They do not appear to be deep fried but according to the product info, they are browned in canola oil. Which explains how when they come out of the oven they are nice and crispy!
Lots of vegetables throughout, a nice amount of curry flavour and heat, I was impressed with this product. Not as good as the traditional kind (of course) but I can actually eat these! And I have… Twice! Definitely a great little snack at a pretty good price. I give these four out of five wooden spoons.
Heat & Go Sausage Rolls
Heat & Go Sausage Rolls kind of confuse me. Isn’t this supposed to be party finger food? I guess a larger snack-size sausage roll will be a treat for someone who wants a treat that taste like party food.
Oh the things I will do for product reviews. Yes, I actually microwaved my first sausage roll. I never cook in the microwave if I can help it and seeing the packaging get all shrivelled up freaked me out. But, I did it!
The filling tasted like traditional sausage roll filling. Nothing new or interesting about that. The pastry was pretty but the ends got really hard and dry. I tried making these in the oven last night and maybe my oven was too high but it got crumbly. So if you buy these, do not over-bake them.
You get four pastries for $4.99 but honestly, I don’t get it. There really is nothing very innovative about this product other than it is a sandwich-sized appetizer. But, maybe people want that. The pastry really did not impress me though and the filling was very traditional. I give this product two and a half out of five wooden spoons. Not my personal choice for an after-school snack.
More product reviews to come!

I was wondering about those cookies as well, good to know they are soft and delicious. As for those Sausage Rolls, I saw them in the store and put them right back after reading the nutritional info. Kids don’t need a snack with 16g of fat, a bit high for my standards. They’d be better off with a smoothie or a toasted bagel with some Nutella or PB.

Ava, I still can’t get over those cookies and love that it’s all natural. I could not bring myself to look at the fat content of the sausage rolls because I had to eat them. Holy crap! It doesn’t help that they’re wrap in a pastry, LOL. Not a snack for me either. Way too much fat. Oh yes, love those smoothies!

Suzie the Foodie is raving about a store-bought cookie? Hell has officially frozen over!
Suzie Ridler says
Yup, Hell has definitely frozen over. Just had another cookie. So good! What’s wrong with me?!

I got some cookies for the girls as a treat after their first day of nursery school … They shared them w/the news that they had a 3day old neice and that momma was a gramma. (Did I feel old!)
Got them at Valumart as nofrills has no IRproducts to be found (at least they were the same price) … No IRs to be found-will look at Loblaw’s for them. (InsiderReports)
Janet Pole (PAZ) says
The chocolate ones look amazing! But we are all allergic to it!
Suzie Ridler says
So weird that you couldn’t get the cookies at No Frills! So glad you found them at Valumart though. Yes, Loblaw’s should have them. I have to say I am now tempted by the chocolate ones. Allergic to chocolate? That is so wrong!

Hi Suzie!
I was intrigued by those sausage rolls when I saw them in the Insider’s Report but then noticed they are just chicken meat. I also don’t see them as a good after school snack choice.
The samosas were just ok at my house too.
We haven’t tried the cookies yet!
Suzie Ridler says
Alexandra, I am actually impressed they are chicken meat, it’s always pork! Reg wouldn’t eat them anyway because of how fatty they are. I agree, not really a good snack choice. Yup, samosas were OK but not like the real deal. Hope you find the cookies! They were my favourite new product, hands down.

Hi Susie. Have you tried their samosa dip. Honestly as a South Asian I am INSULTED. There’s way too much coriander chutney, a very thin layer of tamarind and an even thinner layer os some mix which supposedly potato but hah! Whoa review they kidding. I can show them how to make authentic samosa chaat ( dip). Lots of potato chunks, tamarind, a very thin layer of besan sticks ( sev)and the final which makes or breaks this is a healthy serving of papri ( chips) in a separate bag.
