The PC Mini Chickpea Hummus Dip and Spread is basically a lunchable version of their hummus. You get four mini containers in one box.
The box costs $3.49 and I did the math with the regular hummus, it is actually a little cheaper this way. Not what I was expecting!
We already knew we loved this hummus so my testing was to send it to work with Reg with some crackers. Once we ran out he wanted more and has decided that he absolutely adores hummus. Well played President’s Choice! Well played… Now Reg wants it every day from now on! Smart… I give this idea four out of five wooden spoons. I would prefer the package had five containers for each day of the work week.
Also, I picked up a regular container of what appears to be their new caramelized onion hummus. I can not find it online but it is darker in colour because of the onions and sweeter and I love it. It is even richer and tastier this way but Reg prefers the roasted garlic. Which is fine. The caramelized onion hummus is all mine!
Blue Menu Chicken Sliders Mini Lean Chicken Burgers
Blue Menu Chicken Sliders Mini Lean Chicken Burgers were an easy dinner at our place. They are a little dry and I must be honest, I did not taste the sundried tomatoes. It just tasted like mini chicken burgers to me which was fine. I made a spicy mustardy aioli to go with it and they were pretty good.
A little pricey at $7.99, I got mine one sale for $5.99. I would get them on sale but probably would not pay full price on a regular basis. I give these three and a half out of five wooden spoons.
Blue Menu Greek Yogurt Smoothie Bars – Mango
Blue Menu Greek Yogurt Smoothie Bars has a mango flavour one. It comes in a box of six for $6.99 which is more than $1 a bar.
The good news is it is made with “100% Canadian milk, real mango purée and concentrated fruit juice – with the added benefit of probiotic live active cultures.” A dessert you can feel less guilty about.
When I was away in Toronto Reg started buying their Caramel Greek Yogurt Smoothie bars regularly. When I came home I got into the habit too. We eat these after dinner every night. We did enjoy the mango bars very much but this is our favourite.
I give the mango version four out of five wooden spoons but the caramel gets five out of five when it is on sale! Perfection.
Bonus Product Review
President’s Choice did not ask me to try their sushi but I was so impressed with how they have given this section a makeover, I just had to try some.
I picked up the salmon avocado sushi roll which was only $6 because it was a Tuesday. Love that there is a different deal each day. It was wonderful! I am so used to buying sushi that is, well, not really raw and more of a novelty than the real deal. This salmon was raw and high quality and was wonderful with the avocado. Quite the lunch time treat for me. I give it four and a half out of five wooden spoons.

A lot of packaging on the hummous eh?
Suzie Ridler says
It is, it’s true, but if you buy hummus that is going to happen.

These products are neat, and I know they’re trying to be affordable, but I still find it a little expensive for mini packets of hummus and the Greek Yoghurt popsicles. The sushi counter at the Loblaws at Maple Leaf Gardens is amazing though. I bought one of these lately which could be a cheap, homemade alternative to the hummus and snack packaging (http://www.cuppow.com/collections/bnto-jar-lunchbox-adaptors/products/bnto-04)

It’s true Laura, they are not cheap, that is for sure. But the quality is very high. It’s true, the sushi counter in Toronto at the Maple Leafs location is amazing. Oh I like the look of those containers!
