They’re back!!!!!!!!! This time instead of sweet dressings like above, they sent me savory samples.
You may recall a little while ago Girard’s sent me some of their new salad dressings to review. Sadly, I did not like them at all. Sweet with a harsh edge, I could only give them one out of five wooden spoons. They took the news with grace, as well as determination and belief in their product. They sent me four more kinds to try:
Above is their Original French Dressing on a beautiful summer salad and sadly, well, this was my least favourite dressing! The oil rose to the top no matter how hard I shook the bottle so there was literally zero flavour. If I can not taste it, I can not give it any spoons. This dressing gets zero out of five wooden spoons.
Next was Girard’s Feta Cheese Greek Vinaigrette Dressing which was a huge improvement. You could see the cheese and the spices which not only gave the dressing flavour but texture. I used it for a Greek Salad and it was pretty good. Even my husband liked it and thought I had made it myself! I give that dressing four out of five wooden spoons.
The last two were the Romano and Old Italian dressings that were both strong, savory with a harsh edge. They were much better than the original dressings I had but I probably would not use these on my salads. I give both of those dressings three out of five wooden spoons. If you do not have time to make your own dressing, these are fine, just not perfect.
I admire a company who would send me more of their dressings to review after I was tough on them about their flavours. They were right, I do prefer the more savory dressings to the sweet but my response to the last batch they sent me is all over the map. For those interested, here is an online coupon for Girard’s salad dressing in case you are curious and want to try them for yourself.

I have never head of this dressing; I don’t think I will look for it; thanks.

Well, at least the Feta Cheese Greek one was good!

You definitely have to admire Girard’s courage of conviction when it comes to their product. I still say nothing beats a fresh homemade dressing, no matter the brand name I’ve never been keen on bottled dressings (with the exception of Renee’s of course). Still haven’t tried Wayne’s Ranch Dressing yet, can’t wait to give it a whirl.
