There is going to be a McDonald’s Coffee Giveaway on my blog! Newsletter subscribers will get all the details first!
I recently discovered that McDonald’s coffee products will now be sold in many grocery stores across Canada. Their McCafé® Take Home Coffee comes in four different formats, including Tassimo and Keurig coffee brewing systems.
In my McDonald’s Mystery Box Reveal video I was personally introduced to the products, as well as some extra fun goodies.
The Products
I love that the weekly grocery list has McDonald’s coffee at the top of the list. Hehe…
Sadly I don’t have a Keurig machine but I won’t let that stop me from getting to the coffee!
I was hoping McDonald’s had a decaffeinated version of their coffee for me to test but nope! They sent me their Medium Dark Roast Fine Ground Coffee which means my caffeine addiction will have to continue a little longer. I have been off the caffeine wagon 20 years BTW.
Product Testing
I got out our traditional coffee maker complete with paper filter and got to work. Reg has had this product before and loves it. It was my turn to give it a shot.
The timing was perfect. I had zero sleep the night before and needed “inspiration” to get through the day anyway.
I have to admit something. When I have coffee, I like to treat it like a dessert. Flavoured cream with some sugar…
This was a delicious cup of coffee, damn it! Seriously. I was waiting for the traditional coffee harshness to set me on edge and dislike it but it did not happen. Major flavour without the bitterness.
I started to realize I was in trouble. If this coffee tasted this good, giving it up was not going to be easy.
My second dessert-way to enjoy coffee is as iced coffee which I make all the time. Traditionally 1/2 coffee, 1/2 milk with a tsp of icing sugar blended together with my frother.
Again, fantastic. No brutal bite, just the kind of refreshing iced coffee I was desperate for when we were moving and did not have a kitchen.
Foodie Conclusion
In almost every single way I can think of, this coffee is perfect. I hate coffees that are so harsh and bitter they almost hurt to drink. Weak and boring coffees are just as bad. The McCafé® Take Home Coffee hits the mark bang on for those looking for fabulous coffee without the pain. Even Reg said that if there was one coffee he could tolerate black (he loves it sweet), it is this coffee.
The Rating and Full Disclosure
I still deeply believe there should be a decaf option which is why I give this product four and a half out of five wooden spoons. Especially since now I am hooked and am going to go to my kitchen and have another big fabulous creamy mug of this addicting and perfectly balanced coffee.
Please note this is a sponsored post but the opinions expressed here are mine. Had I hated the product, I would have said so but now I am a McCafé® addict. Bloody Hell!

Suzie – Did you take that last photo of the bag with the McCafe cup in it? If so, you’re awesome name is missing on that most excellent photography.
Suzie Ridler says
Thanks TSW! And yes, those are all my photographs. 🙂
Conny McRiner says
I have been drinking McDonalds coffee for a few years now. I love their coffee and even buy the bags of ground coffee. Much to my surprise they stopped selling it in the restaurants a few weeks ago. Now I can see why because they are going to be on grocery store shelves!
Suzie Ridler says
Conny, well now it’s going to be easier for you to pick it up and I hear that they’re in all sorts of grocery stores now. Thanks for commenting!
Debra She Who Seeks says
I like McDonalds coffee too, ever since they started making good stuff. Their coffee years ago was shit but I think it was deliberate so people wouldn’t sit and linger over coffee. Turnover was the name of the game then. Now they want us older people back since the kiddie market is smaller now. But I don’t hold a grudge. If it’s too far to go to Tim Hortons, I will stop at McDonalds for one of their coffees instead.
Suzie Ridler says
It’s true, the coffee used to be terrible and it’s amazing they have turn things around so much. They really did their research and quality control because people are just loving it now.
Jamie B says
I love their iced coffee! My favorite is the hazelnut 😆 but I can’t figure out how to make iced coffee (I’ve never made coffee before in my life 😳)
Suzie the Foodie says
I love the hazelnut too Jamie B! I make iced coffee at home all the time. Brew up some strong coffee and add some sugar to it. Let it cool and chill. Then add some evaporated skim milk to it and I use hazelnut coffee flavouring and voila!
Leslie Ebright says
I have searched everywhere for McCafé winter wonder k cups can you help please
Suzie the Foodie says
Leslie, McDonald’s just wrote me and said, “Our K-Cups are available in Wal-Mart’s and most grocery stores!” I hope that helps!
Belinda says
I too love McCafe coffee. So I decided to make it at home but I can’t seem to get my measurements right. When buying from McDonalds I usually get a large with 5 cream 5 sugar. I’ve read the directions on the can and it still hasn’t come out the same. I bought the premium roast like they use at McDonalds and am using the ninja coffee bar and just the classic brew setting. Does anyone have any helpful tips? One other thing is I don’t brew an entire pot. I brew a huge travel mug about 26-28 ounces.
Suzie the Foodie says
Belinda, I don’t know the answer but I put your question up on Facebook, maybe someone will know. I am not familiar with the ninja coffee bar.
Suzie the Foodie says
A friend on FB sent me this intel:
https://yourquestions.mcdonalds.ca/answer/how-many-ounces-of-coffee-in-the-large/
Our large coffee cup is 18 delicious ounces! So a little bit less than that goes into the cup itself.
