When I heard NutraDried LLP had officially begun the commercial launch of Moon Cheese (a 100% natural crunchy cheese snack) I wrote the company right away and said, “I want to try it!” It just sounded so cool, I wanted some and they graciously sent me a package of their Pepper Jack but it also comes in American Cheddar and Gouda.
I want to dedicate this post to Reg! It is his birthday today and nobody loves sci-fi and food as much as he does. He even wore his astronaut’s glove shirt, a dragon’s tail hat and geeky glasses for my taste testing video. Check it out to see our immediate reactions to this intriguing new foodie product.
Who knew that dehydrated cheese could look and taste so cool? You can see the flakes in the Pepper Jack cheese bites quite clearly. I love that the moon cheese nuggets look like asteroids.
As I say in the video… Mmmm, crunchy cheese… It is very cheesy, there is no doubt that is what you are eating and yet it crunches and dissolves in your mouth! There is a nice little kick that I enjoyed from the Pepper Jack but it did not set my mouth on fire. Perfect!
High in protein, all natural, gluten free and an excellent source of calcium, this was such a tasty treat! I just hope they start showing up at grocery stores near me so I can have more. I should note that they contain approximately 1 gram of fat per piece but… the pieces are quite large and there is as much protein as there is fat with zero carbs.
This was such a fun foodie treat to product test and we really enjoyed the experience. I have never had anything quite like it before and I want more! I wish I knew the price point of this product but when it comes to a fun flavourful snack (that would make a great stocking stuffer for sci-fi freaks like us) I give Moon Cheese four and a half out of five wooden spoons.
I WILL be trying these! I can’t live without cheese of all kinds!
