I had kept hearing about gourmet gum so when I saw Project 7’s Birthday Cake Gourmet Gum at my Superstore, I had to check it out.
You can watch my live taste test here. You will see, I was quite shocked with the flavour!
For $1.79 I got 12 pieces of gum in a small package with a tearable top.
I chose birthday cake over coconut lime and front porch lemonade because I thought it was the most decadent. Although now they have even more delicious and yummy flavours to choose from.
Having a piece of gum with just 2.5 calories is a heck of a lot less than having a slice of cake. But would it compare to the real deal?
I was intrigued with the giant Chiclet-style pieces of gum but when I tried it, I was so shocked.
Yes, I could taste vanilla but what did I taste more than anything? Coconut! Damn it, that keeps happening to me. There is something in this product that uses coconut and it overshadows the birthday cake flavour entirely. It actually tasted more like coconut icing than cake too. It was still delicious but I wanted birthday cake, not coconut chiffon cake damn it!
I love how Project 7 is out to change the world for the better with their gum, gummies and mints. I think it is absolutely brilliant but I am disappointed with this particular product. Some people may not be as sensitive to coconut as I am and will totally disagree with me and the flavour is quite lovely but I do not like false advertising of any kind.
As a result, I can only give this product four out of five wooden spoons, but only if you really like coconut.

I’ve had to give up chewing gum. Now it sticks to all my dental work. That’s what I get for aging!
