During our house hunting trip in Vancouver, we were so busy running around and trying to figuring out where the hell to live we ended up eating a lot at fast food places, if we ate at all.
So, after finding THE apartment and getting on the phone to change flight plans so we could get back as quickly as possible, I went a little crazy when I discovered Brioche Dorée at Vancouver Airport on our way back to the east coast.
To be transported away from all our cares and worries to a little piece of Paris was a dream come true.
The stress of the upcoming move disappeared when I saw all these freshly baked treats, just waiting for us to select and devour.
I knew right away I was in for a fabulous foodie experience when I first indulged in my iced mocha! It was sweet, creamy and not bitter and the chocolate sauce on the bottom mixed with the coffee with each sip I took. I was in heaven after living through a hellish adventure.
I ordered the ham and cheese breakfast croissant and I am sure my eyes rolled up to the back of my head as I ate it. That, combined with the iced mocha, elevated my world from dire to delight. The croissant just flaked and melted away as I consumed it greedily.
Why not have dessert after breakfast while in France? This apricot and cream croissant called me as I waited in that long time and I did not let it down. I easily tore it in half to share with Reg and then enjoyed every delicious buttery and creamy bite with my iced mocha.
Thank you Brioche Dorée Café & Bakery. This trip pushed me to my limits and you made the long +13 hour journey back bearable. Although running back and forth the Toronto Airport and almost missing our flight was not fun but I am sure all those mega-calories made that physical feat for me possible.
Oh the healing power of food! And its superpowers to take such a hard situation and turn it into a Parisienne getaway in an airport, of all places. This was bliss.
I give five out of five wooden spoons and a big uncomfortably long Canadian hug. I think I have a crush on you.

Yes, I’ve had a delish croissant at this franchise outlet too — can’t remember which airport it was in though — wouldn’t have been Vancouver because I haven’t been there for a while.

Did you enjoy it too Debra?! I have got to check out if they have Vancouver City proper location. I will live there!
