Recently my husband and I spent four days at The Blue Shank Inn Bed & Breakfast. You can read my review of the inn here. I also absolutely had to have a page dedicated solely to the food that Susan Cameron spoiled us with during our stay at her fantastic inn here on my foodie blog.
I had mentioned to Susan that I was on the island for the Island Chocolate Festival so our first morning we wake up to find she has made chocolate treats for us! She asked the group of guests if they could figure out the secret healthy and moist ingredient. At first I said carrot (wrong) and then zucchini. It was my second guess that won me the prize of a Lindt chocolate bar!
As you can see, Susan’s attention to detail was amazing, every morning we had new treats served on lovely plates with special touches.
We even got to sample her home-grown tomatoes in a side salad she made with white balsamic vinegar.
Every morning she made sure I had my own decanter of hot decaffeinated coffee waiting for me to start my day.
Two of her friends were also staying at the inn and they were cyclists so she made sure we all got a protein shake to keep us all going on our adventures.
Our final breakfast was an oven-made French toast with slow cooked bacon in a cast iron pan. It was the best bacon I have ever eaten and what a treat! You know how often I eat pork, LOL.
We were a little hesitant to stay at a bed and breakfast at first. We are not morning people but Susan’s food made getting up for an 8:30 am breakfast easy. We are not super social people when it comes to strangers, going to a bed and breakfast is not typical for us, but everyone who stayed at the inn was wonderful and Susan and her husband Scott were so friendly, helpful and interesting. They are both foodies who appreciate attention to detail and fabulous food. They made us feel so welcome, so at home it was a pleasure to feast with everyone each and every morning.
I loved staying The Blue Shank Inn Bed & Breakfast. Our room was fantastic, the food phenomenal, the people fabulous and the location was very convenient for our stay. I give The Blue Shank Inn Bed & Breakfast five out of five wooden spoons. It was the perfect getaway for this foodie.
