The Work Gourmet Burger Bistro has come to Halifax! Downtown at 5431 Doyle Street to be exact. I was invited to their media preview event but could not go but I sure as heck was going to check it out. They have all sorts of locations in Ontario but this is the first one on the east coast.
We were actually only going to get a dessert when we first arrived but the wafting scent and smoke of grilled burgers in the air seduced me and Jen. I also fell in love with the industrial steampunk look that was also quite cozy. How did they do that?!
We all ordered water which came in measuring cups, very different.
Salt and pepper lighbulb shakers…
Industrial art and fixtures on the wall… OK, this place is cool! But the real question is, how is the food?
Jen and I split the Three Ringer Binder hamburger and I am so glad we did! It was HUGE!
Perfectly cooked and yes, I added the mustard and ketchup. Which was probably a mistake. Everything was so moist and delicious and totally fell apart in my hands. One of the messiest but possible the best burger I have had in a long time. We also received complimentary curry dip to go with the sweet potatoes which were also excellent.
For me, the best test for a burger joint is getting a milkshake. I am rarely impressed.
We all got different kinds. I ordered the mocha. So thick (see photo, LOL), so delicious, definitely a fantastic chocolate and coffee flavour throughout. I was in milkshake heaven. Gold star!
We had fantastic service from many different people and I have never seen a restaurant work so hard to keep a space clean. As soon as guests left someone was using a push-and-pull-style carpet cleaner to keep the floors clean. Our server even took our photo.
Jen, Emily and I had an impressive time out at The Work Gourmet Burger Bistro and I can not wait to take Reg with me next time. He is going to love it!
I give our pseudo lunch out five out of five wooden spoons.

Love the decor and the food sounds good too! We don’t have that chain in Alberta yet.

I’m so glad you loved it š We adore the Works in Ottawa! I can say I loved it even before my brother became the owner of a location here š
Hope you are well!

I don’t think they have a chain outside of Ontario other than this one Debra but it would be awesome if they went west.
Keeley, so great to hear from you! That is so cool your brother became an owner of one there, I bet it is even better now.
