Recipe to Riches entree winner Rick Matharu rocked the foodie house with his butter chicken lasagna. When I watched the episode, I immediately saw the appeal. Rick replaced the rice normally served with butter chicken with pasta and moved all that chicken goodness inside.
I LOVE pasta! And Butter Chicken. I could not wait to try it.
The Product
Seriously, I couldn’t wait. No fancy photos this time. I wanted to pop that sucker in the oven, make a salad and a smoothie and eat.
It was delicious! And a tad spicy, which not all butter chickens are. Definitely rich and luxurious even though the top layer scorched a little because I got distracted.
It isn’t just chicken thigh meat and pasta though. You get cremini mushrooms and green peppers inside too. You definitely get that butter chicken flavour fused with the texture of Italy. This is fusion food at its best. Well done Rick and I am so glad they stayed true to your recipe!
I give this product four out of five wooden spoons. I have paid more than $7.99 for mediocre frozen lasagnas so this is a steal. For a large family though, you would probably need to buy two!
The Episode
This was by far my favourite episode of Recipe to Riches. Less bickering, more positive attitude and it just felt more about the food than the contestants.
I will point out, however, the marketing team wanted Rick to add his last name to the name of the product and he said yes. I did not hear him getting accused of being self-absorbed for doing so! And, as usual, President’s Choice ignored the marketing advice and kept it the original name.

This is the first food from this show to make me consider actually getting into my car and driving 18 K to the closest Pres Choice outlet! Thanks for the review and Ima gonna drive out for one!

Noor al Haqiqa, oh good! I hope you like it and you are most welcome. 🙂 I would buy it again for sure. Great “night off from cooking” dinner choice.
