I learned about SEVA Maple Water from an episode of Dragons’ Den that aired on my birthday in January.
Recently this lovely package with their product arrived on my doorstep!
“SEVA Maple Water is 100% pure maple sap, the clear and nourishing water that flows naturally from maple trees each spring.” ~ SEVA
Imagine drinking maple sap that is full of electrolytes, amino & organic acids, phytohormones and antioxidants! The sap is from Quebec maple trees and has no additional preservatives, sugar or water.
But how does it taste? I have to say, I did not find it had much flavour. There is a natural sweetness to it but it is very subtle. I personally did not find it tasted like maple but one thing I really liked is that it was thin and not oily like coconut water is. It also has less sugar and and calories.
The big test was going to be Reg’s response. Coconut water truly does help him after his workouts so if I was going to consider replacing coconut water with maple water, he had to have the same positive response to it.
And he did! No headaches after his workouts and he loves the taste of it. He wanted to drink it straight whereas I would have just added it to our smoothies.
You impress Reg? You impress me!
I was worried about the environmental impact on the trees but was relieved to find out that the sap is 100% renewable product that is sustainably harvested. They do not use machines that harmfully impact the trees. They just take what the trees have to offer without hurting the trees. Good!
I definitely think SEVA Maple Water is way more pleasant to drink than any coconut water I have had so far. It has a very subtle taste with huge medicinal benefits and is a Canadian product that does not harm the environment. Most of all, it helps Reg’s quality of life and keeps him working out without pain which means a lot to me.
Check here to see if you can find SEVA Maple Water near you. Product retails for $4.99 for the 1L and $2.49 for the 330ml which is very comparable to the coconut water we have been getting. Next time I am at Whole Foods I am absolutely picking up a 1L container.
I give this product five out of five wooden spoons. Great product that is environmental-friendly, a fair price and healthy-to-boot. I have zero complaints! How rare, LOL.

Glad you found something that Reg enjoys.
P.S. This coming tap season, a friend of mine is having me over so I can boil it down for syrup. She’s not a fan of it without it being reduced. Too watery.

Oh that’s exciting!!! I went to a sap boil when I was a kid and loved it. The sap is very watery but you need a ton to make syrup. This was it goes really far and you hydrate and help the body. Anything that helps with Reg’s post-workout headaches is good for me too!

I’m excited to give it a go and bring my camera to her house when we get to making it. I’ll take a big sip of it uncooked too, just for fun.
Have a great week. This is my last stop for the afternoon. Headed back to watch MORE Lucy and take a short nap.
PS: 104 years ago today, the queen of comedy was born.
One of the best!

Oh yes, take your camera for sure! Nice, I totally love Lucy too.

Fascinating, Suzie! I am amazed by the health benefits. Thanks for introducing us to this product!

It is amazing Jamie! And so much easier to take than coconut water. Just having a better consistency alone makes it worthwhile. You’re welcome! 🙂 My pleasure.
