When I heard about Way Better Snacks, I wrote the company immediately and asked to review them. These are not your typical tortilla chip. They are made with sprouted whole grains and seeds which means they are high in omega 3s, antioxidants and other vital nutrients. They are also low in sodium and saturated fat.
Did I mention I am a tortilla chip fiend???!!! So yes, I also just wanted to try them. Could the traditional unhealthy tortilla chip be infused with goodness and still taste good? You bet your foodie ass! In fact, I think they improved the flavour and texture as well as making us healthier as we dip them into our deep bowls of salsa and guacamole.
Basically, they have come up with a way to “enhance the bioavailability of nutrients and aid digestion” through sprouting. The video does a great job describing how that works in just one minute. Very cool!
These are all natural, vegan, gluten-free, no GMO, certified kosher, no trans fats, no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. Inside you will find stone ground corn and depending on the bag you pick up there could be sprouted quinoa, brown rice, daikon radish seed, chia seeds, broccoli seeds…
Flavours
They also come in all different flavours for you to choose from: Unbeatable Blues, Black Bean, Sweet Potato, Multi-Grain and Sweet Chili. Apparently they now also have Tangy Mustard + Onion and Spicy Sriracha. (I would LOVE to review those too! Hint Hint!)
There is no doubt these are high quality and delicious tortilla chips. There is just so much more substance to them than your typical chip that it is hard to believe these are also better for you. A total no-brainer.
Although I loved them, the one thing for me is that they tasted very similar to each other. Except the Sweet Chili. That one totally rocked flavour wise! Reg and I could not stop eating them.
If you are going to buy these strictly for the health benefits (not to mention the fabulous texture and corn flavour), I would recommend picking up the bag that fits your needs and desires. You will not be disappointed. If you can not find them in your health food store you can buy them directly from the company online.
I must admit this product exceeded my expectations. I love the idea of adding as many health benefits to a snack as they can squeeze in there and create a superior tortilla chip in the process. I am absolutely impressed. I give this product four and a half out of five wooden spoons.

This style of crisp is my favorite because I don’t taste so much oil and salt. And they don’t sog under pressure of a heavy bean and melty topping, with avocado, onion and sour cream. YUM.

I bought some at Sobeys (sweet potato ones) in their healthy living section. I really enjoyed them.
