Soma Chocolatemaker

Soma Chocolatemaker

While I was in Toronto I went to the Distillery District downtown and was in foodie paradise! One of the first places I went to was Soma Chocolatemaker at 55 Mill Street. How amazing to see their micro chocolate-factory through their viewing window! They are truly chocolate artisans, one of the few places that make their chocolate products right from the beans. Amid their many chocolate products you will also discovery they make sorbet and gelato.
Handmade Chocolates

I sampled the two truffles on the right. The light chocolate was the Gianduja (Italian Hazelnut Chocolate) and and the dark truffle at the back was the Caramel Kiss Truffle. Outstanding! Rich, melt in your mouth, full of creamy flavour, both truffles did not disappoint. Even though I spent almost $5 for these two chocolate treasures, they were absolutely worth it. For me chocolate and hazelnut make the perfect pairing and the high quality chocolate took the truffle to a whole new level. Having the dark chocolate crackle under my teeth and then melt into caramel goo was a beautiful experience.

From watching the chocolate-making to the friendly and super helpful staff, the Soma Chocolatemaker experience in Toronto’s Distillery District was paradise for this foodie. Definitely worth checking out, I give it five out of five wooden spoons.

    I. Love. Chocolate. It is a huge weakness of mine! Sugar in general is addicting (literally) but chocolate is much more so. Great review! If I’m ever in Toronto I know where to go.

Definatly worthwile! Mmmm – we have a week chocolararie ‘Honest Chocolates’ that is always a fun visit. They usually pass out a free sample (I’m a dark chocolate gal) & I get a small handful of goodies.
A fav. at home is mixing coconut oil with some good cocoa powder & carob & a bit of maple syrup – eat a spoonful or two when I *need* some chocolate!

What a treat! You’ve totally inspired me to get down to that Chocolatier and buy our special treat, Dark Fire. Yum! I’m so glad you got to go.
