Storm Crow Manor and FAN EXPO Canada got together to have a patio party to celebrate Halloween in July and yours truly was invited to attend!
Action hero and aggressive animal activist John Wick graciously agreed to accompany me and be my protective detail for the night.
The Venue
I was at Storm Crow Manor just a few months ago and the whole front of the house was under construction. It is amazing to see the transformation that has occurred, the whole area has been completely redone and looks absolutely gorgeous. It is the perfection addition to their Toronto location for its summer guest. I particularly loved the picnic tables with swinging seats.
There was a DJ and tons of prizes that were given away throughout the night.
As a VIP my guest and I were given many tokens and tickets to see and try everything which was explained to us by Marge Simpson.
The new patio included an incredible bar with lots of space to drink, mingle and enjoy the summer weather.
Throughout the mansion and outside there was food to graze and enjoy.
And Cthulhu was everywhere… When I say everywhere, I mean, everywhere! (More to come…)
In no time at all the patio was covered in everyone dressed in costume and even The Kraken emerged!
Costumes
The most memorable part for me, of course, were all the costumes of course as you know how much I LOVE cosplay!
Everyone was dressed up and super happy.
If there was ever a place to enjoy Halloween in July, this was it.
I think my favourite costume was The Pink Lady just because of nostalgia for me but all the outfits and wigs were amazing.
Harry Potter…
Jason…
Ghostbusters….
Pikachu…
And holy crap the scariest clowns on the planet! Who were also very nice and having a great time. Which is good because I am TERRIFIED of clowns!
Food
But how can I talk about the event without mentioning the food? For me? The main event!
The first slider we tried was so moist, meaty and delicious. This was the perfect way to begin.
And wings! There were so many different kinds of wings and they were all good. This one was my favourite though, as I love sweet BBQ wings.
The stuffed Yorkshire pudding was a little dry unfortunately, but…
The battered fish was hot out of the fryer and super delicious! So moist and flavourful, it was my favourite bite of the night.
Sadly, the Beyond Meat burger was my least favourite food offered. I took one bite and it did not taste like meat at all to me. The texture was similar, in fact, it was a little “gristly” but not in a pleasant way. The flavour was way too sweet. I hate that in a burger. John Wick did mention that for a veggie burger it was quite good which I guess is true but for me, it did not pleasantly taste like meat at all. Hard pass.
Drinks
It was impossible for me to attend and not indulge in some of the beverages because they are half the fun of going to Storm Crow Manor.
I got to sample Southern Style Hey Y’all Hard Iced Tea, ironically, made by a Vancouver company. I figured it was from the southern US!
This lightly sweetened black tea also has a hit of vodka. Nothing like caffeine and alcohol, two things I do not normally indulge in. It really was not too sweet which I liked it and tasted like real tea. Which it is. Such a treat for me!
I thought this product was great and the people serving it were lovely. One of them was wearing Wonder Woman socks!
Since I had already fallen down the alcohol rabbit hole a little I decided to indulge in cashing in the rest of my chips and getting the Cthulhu Tiki Drink which comes with a collectible mug and is worth $25! Made with rum, pineapple juice, cream of coconut and orange juice, the bartender told me it was similar to a Rum Runner. Oh, and of course, they finished it off with dry ice! I honestly could not say no, it was the coolest drink I had ever seen or heard of.
But things got weird after that! The drink hit me like a ton of bricks and I was getting nervous to use my camera. Good thing I did not order the Darth Vader drink, it was made for two!
Special thanks to my friend John Wick for being my guest and for saving Cthulhu’s head when it fell off my mug. Apparently that was happening to everyone but that signalled to me that maybe it was time to head home.
Storm Crow Manor truly knows how to throw a party: great music, fantastic hosts, prizes, costumes, food and people… It was the coolest event of the summer. I have no idea if anyone can top it!
I went home on the streetcar under the influence of The Call of Cthulhu and ended up down at the beaches thinking I saw a UFO under water. I kid you not. It was absolutely awesome. I really thought he was coming for me!
Thank you Storm Crow Manor and FAN EXPO Canada for an unforgettable night!

Wow, what an awesome party and how cool that you were there! That Cthulhu drink and souvenir glass is one for the memory books alright! Your photos of all the costumes and cosplay are great . . . what/who did you go as? I don’t think you mentioned it.
But my favourite line is your description of John Wick as an “action hero and aggressive animal activist,” LOL!

It was such a great opportunity Debra! I have Cthulhu staring at me right now in my room. I actually didn’t dress up because all my costumes and wigs didn’t make the move but I did wear my sugar skull shirt and necklace.
Thanks! I am so glad you enjoyed that line! I thought it worked quite well, LOL.
