I was so excited to see that the Superstore has a huge baking supplies sale going on but it is just this weekend. All sugar products are over $1 off, just $1.66. A HUGE bag of flour is only $7.99 but I could not fit that in my backpack:
I picked up the sugar and some other supplies for the weekend. I am travelling to Italy in my kitchen this weekend, testing out more recipes for The Geometry of Pasta for a cookbook review too. This was more than my poor aching back could carry home. I also got all those tomatoes for 50% off, kah-ching!
So if you are in Atlantic Canada I want you to check your flyer to see if this deal is going on where you are too, it is too good to pass up. Not much gets me out of the house on a weekend morning but the sun is shining so strongly, I just had to get out of the house and this was the perfect excuse. Now I am all set for holiday baking!
Hi Susie,
You really had me fooled for a minute and pining for Italy. Happy travels via your kitchen.
Although I try to always shop at our local grocery store or the farmer’s marke, I cave in when it comes to some baking supplies. When you bake as much as we do you have to cut costs. You just can’t beat the prices of “Superstores”. In my case Costco has the cheapest prices for things like flour, sugar and nuts.
Hey Anna! Alas, I am just going to Italy via food, wish it were different… tomato sauce is bubbling away as I type this.
Me too, I would love to go to farmers’ markets, period! And Costco. I am stuck with what is within walking distance (which is not always cheaper) but for supplies like this, a bargain. Baking has consistently gotten more and more expensive in the last couple of years. This is the only way it still ends up being affordable.
I shop Superstore for all of my dried and canned goods. You just can’t find better prices. I also find the President’s Choice and blue label items to be excellent. The blue label steel cut oats are a mainstay in our house.
To steal a line from Truman Capote, “It’s fruitcake weather.”
I wonder if the sake is happening here. I wish the sale was over here on Vancouver island.B.C.
