Birthday Lunch at Tibisti Grill

Birthday Lunch at Tibisti Grill

On my birthday I wanted to go out to lunch and have a beef wrap/shawarma/donair… Reg introduced me to this delicious and wonderful treat after we first met and it is not something I usually make for myself. I suggested we go to Tabisti Grill for my birthday lunch.

It was in the middle of the afternoon and the restaurant (6990 Victoria Drive) was quite quiet which was wonderful. I am not a fan of busy places that are crowded and loud. Plus, I love the big booths at the front of the restaurant!

Our server highly recommended their lunch buffet which was only $11.95 which normally I would have said yes to but we were in a bit of a rush and I just wanted a delicious beef wrap.

With a side Greek salad. Which almost cost as much as the buffet so the server came back to make sure this is what we wanted and I assured him, yes, this is what we wanted. And that we would be back for the buffet next time.

Reg ordered the lamb which was very delicious. I do like to have more of a vinegary zing (and lettuce) with my Greek salad though.

But the beef wrap was divine! They really did not hold back on the hummus and tzatziki which made it absolutely saucy heaven. Exactly what I wanted. The beef was tender too. What a treat.

It is so funny. We actually used to live in the condo across the street from this restaurant. It used to be a convenient store at the corner of Victoria Drive and 54th Avenue. I think it is just as well we do not live THAT close! Very dangerous for our hips and our wallets, LOL.

Our server was so friendly and fun and generous. The food was tasty, filling and a great price. There is nothing that I like more than a comfortable place to go in the hood for a great donair. I have been looking for a local hangout and I think I found it at Tabisti Grill. A birthday gift in and of itself and Reg likes it too!

And, as promised, I will go back for the buffet!

I’m glad you enjoyed your birthday lunch, but I must confess that I am not a fan of donairs. My Rare One loves them though.

I have heard that people like you exist Debra! I can’t imagine not liking donairs but that’s OK. I adore you the way you are.

Trying to think, if I could eat anywhere right now, where would it be. I know, I’d zap myself to your town and have a bunch of belly laughs and good food with you and Reg. Tim too. After all, we can’t leave Frankenberry, behind.

So glad you enjoyed your birthday lunch. Looked yummy and I am sure the buffet will be worth the wait. I love Lebanese food!

Me too Tammy! Absolutely delicious and thank you so much. Can’t wait for the buffet. Going to give myself lots of time to just sit, relax and eat. Sweet!

    Stay away!!
They serve old horrible food in their buffet that seem kept refrigerated for days and from left overs of the previous day’s buffet! They pour grease and oil/fat on all the food with lots of salt thinking they can fool people around to mask the rotten taste of old food. There’s basically no service; rude and mean servers and chief. This is NOT a Lebanese restaurant; may be one day it was long ago when a Lebanese chief was in charge and the food was good back then; not anymore with the new immature Libyan caterers of poor attitude, food and service. Myself, my wife, and our infant went there for their “buffet” and the ‘server’ let us in without telling us that restaurant will close in half an hour. He removed all the food from the buffet while we were still eating and fully charged us! His excuse was “Working hours are written on the door and we are not staying a minute longer”!! He literally kicked us out! Not just that, while he was arguing with me at his desk another customer just came in and he served him although he was basically “closed”! That was unethica, unprofessional and the most horrible experience we’ve ever had in a ‘restaurant’. So if you don’t want to be humiliated and you want to keep your dignity stay away!
