It was so much fun sharing the unboxing of all the treats I received from T&T to celebrate their expansion to east coast Superstores. Product testing has been equally fun and at times, surprising!
Pineapple Cakes
Each pineapple cake is individually wrapped in gold paper and rests in a plastic container. Which looks impressive and very wasteful at the same time.
The cakes looked good from the outside…
… And had an interesting pineapple filling on the inside very similar to the box. The only problem is they are very dry and not very sweet. I can really taste the coconut oil shortening and there is a tad “funky” flavour which may be caused by the beef tallow.
I wish I could say I liked this product but it just is not for me. I bet if you grew up with them though, this could be one of those treats that tastes like home. As a result, I do not think it is fair for me to rate this product. You will have to see for yourself if you like them.
Almond & Cheddar Crackers
I am happy to say, I thought these two boxes of crackers were great. In fact I went out to the store to check out the prices of them, I just had to know! Sometimes crackers can be so expensive.
Looks like they are normally $1.99 at my store but were on sale for $1.38. A very good price!
Just like the saltine crackers though, they are wrapped for freshness in stacks that are individually packaged which is smart for freshness but is a real waste when it comes to materials.
I loved the almond crackers, a little more original than the cheddar and saltine. They have a hint of sweetness and are tasty. I snacked on these as I was doing the photoshoot of the other products. I give them four and a half out of five wooden spoons. They would have rated higher if there had been less packaging.
These are very typical tasting cheesy crackers and I mean that in a good way. I bet they were be excellent on top of a retro-casserole or broken up over a bowl of tomato soup. I give these four out of five wooden spoons.
Jasmine Green Tea
I love this idea! Jasmine Green Tea that is cold and can be enjoyed right out of the bottle. All that flavour and antioxidants in a large 1.5L bottle.
Regularly $2.49, now on sale for $1.88, that is a lot of tea for under $2!
This is one I had to be careful with. In fact, I was considering not testing it at all because there is caffeine in it. But this tea is made “from fresh winter and spring tea leaves from the high mountains in Taiwan. This delicate tea is mixed with the essence of white jasmine flower buds.”
Sounded so stunning, how could I not try it? I put some in a shot glass and took a sip. Beautiful! Surprisingly sweet though which normally jasmine tea is not but it was lovely. Took me back to my favourite Asian restaurants but also made it feel like summer. Which is quite a feat in February.
Damn it, I love this product! And I can’t enjoy it. Totally gave me a caffeine jolt and gave me problems sleeping (I am super sensitive) but Reg is going to love this.
If you can enjoy caffeine and love jasmine tea, you will agree that this is a five out of five wooden spoon product.
Foodie Conclusion
Part 1 of the T&T product review has been fascinating. The prices for the T&T products are hard to beat but I am going to keep my eye out for wasteful packaging, a big pet peeve of mine. Still, the quality has been quite good for the price which gives me confidence to start buying products and testing them on my own.
More product reviews to come and I am saving my favourite for last so stay tuned!

The almond crackers sound intriguing!

I felt the same way about the pineapple cakes Suzie. I didn’t want to say it the other day when I mentioned them because I didn’t want to give any negative vibes. Of course I didn’t see what they were packaged in because I was tasting them in a store. Wastefull packaging is a huge turn off for our family. It is too bad that a lot of Asian products are sold this way.

They’re pretty good Debra, really good for the price, I like them.
Fran, I had a feeling you didn’t like them but thanks for the effort to remain neutral while I was testing them. I agree, wasteful packaging is terrible! Plus, you get less than you think you’re getting because of it.
