It takes a really cool group of women to throw a baby shower at as awesome a place as Sweet Hereafter Cheesecakery on Quinpool. That and extraordinary cheesecake, which they have at $8 a slice and totally worth it.
My friend Emily organized the event for our friend Alissa who is due in under a month.
Presents, fabulous coffee and cheesecake… What else do you need to celebrate? I ordered the peanut butter chocolate cheesecake and it was divine. Totally what my foodie dreams are made of.
Alissa is now all set for her future newcomer including a homemade knitted acorn wood elf hat…
… and matching booties. Adorable! I wish I had thought of that.
The lady of honour ordered the berry cheesecake topped with chocolate and drizzled with raspberry coulis. There was also Rolo cheesecake, black forest, lemon… As a result, there was a ton of hmmming going on as we ate cake and drank tea, coffee and wow, their green tea lemonade is out of this world.
Empty plates on all the tables and plumes of pretty tissue paper flew through the air as Alissa’s little one was loving lavished upon.
Did I mention my cheesecake? How good it was? Seriously, the baker at the Sweet Hereafter Cheesecakery is an artist and everyone there was so welcoming and lovely.
Alissa and Emily have been so kind and sweet to me during my time in Nova Scotia. It was an honour to be invited to this special event. So wonderful to have such a lovely excuse to go back for more cheesecake and cool gothic ambiance with friends.
As Reg and I drove past the cafe yesterday after the Zombie Walk, I almost suggested going in for another slice to celebrate our anniversary. My screaming body, however, said, “Next weekend please!”
Fine with me.
