Bitchin Kitchen’s Pot au Chocolat

Bitchin Kitchen's Pot au Chocolat

I got some comments about how cruelly tempting I was to put up my post about my cinnamon buns so I considered posting something that was healthy today but with this weekend being dedicated to chocolate? I just couldn’t do it. Chocolate pots it is!

Thanks goes out to Nadia G for this recipe and my review of her cookbook Bitchin’ Kitchen Cookbook is coming up at the end of the month. It has provided me with tons of entertainment and foodie inspiration. Now, onto the chocolate!

Bitchin Kitchen's Pot au Chocolat

Chop up 3/4 cup of bittersweet chocolate (I may have used semi-sweet).

You want to heat up 1 1/2 cup of whipping cream and 1/2 cup of whole milk (I used skim) in a saucepan, bringing it to a boil over medium-low heat. Remove immediately.

Add the chocolate and whisk until smooth.

In a large bowl combine 4 egg yolks, 2 tbsp brown sugar and a pinch of fleur de sel. Whisk until smooth.

Slowly add melted chocolate to egg mixture while whisking the entire time. Remember, slowly! You want chocolate pots, not chocolate scrambled eggs. Strain the mixture into a large bowl or a large measuring cup with a pouring spout.

Pour mixture into small jars. I used small ramekins.

Cover with foil and poke holes on the top with a fork. Place jars in a roasting pan and fill the pan halfway up the pots with water. I used hot water but the recipe did not specify temperature.

Bake in a 300F oven for 35 minutes and then let cool for 30. Chill in the fridge before eating.

Looks pretty with some cocoa powder sieved on top. These were very tasty. A fancy chocolate pudding that would go great after a holiday dinner. Not too difficult to make and can be made ahead of time. I give this recipe four out of five wooden spoons.

I love this comment by Nadia G: If you’re single, don’t sweat it! Make this meal for a friend! As the old Italian saying goes: “You don’t need love to be happy, you just need to be rich and hot.” Her wisdom is boundless!

I am going to be taking a break this long weekend. I am kind of on the verge of physical collapse. Life has been a little too challenging and busy. I do hope that you have a delicious long weekend and that we all get to unplug and really appreciate Earth Day.

So eat lots of chocolate this holiday weekend and we will eat healthier next week!
