There is a cool free holiday festival coming up this Saturday November 26, 2016 in Yaletown from noon until 7 pm called CandyTown!
“…a free Christmas festival that invites holidaymakers to indulge in the season’s sweetest surprises.”
The “All I Want for Christmas” gift market on Mainland Street will have gifts for the holidays with shops and local artisans showcasing jewellery, flowers, pet accessories, decor and fashions.
Mainland Street will be turned into a winter wonderland and last year 15,000 people came out!
It will be filled with local artisans, street performers and live music. There will be live music, roaming characters and stilt walkers.
I love that the event is open to the public and will help grumpy people like me get into the Christmas spirit.
There will be horse-drawn carriage rides, ice sculpture artists at work, food trucks, candy cane martinis at OPUS Bar…
There will also be a Candy Hut where kids can craft candy necklaces and candy kebabs. Hopefully there will be candy for adults too! I want candy and I plan on attending CandyTown so do not disappoint me! Candy is not just for kids.
Yaletown restaurants such as Earls and Rodney’s Oyster House will create seasonal bites to eat and more than 15 food vendors will be there including Bella Gelateria, Bluebird Cakery and Damien’s Belgian Waffles.
They all sound delectable but again, I want candy! We will see if I find some when I go to Yaletown this Saturday.
Please note that attendees are encouraged to bring cash for donations that will benefit B.C. Children’s Hospital and Starlight Children’s Foundation.

I hope so too! It’s been so wet here this fall, even more than normal. Hope I don’t get soaked searching for candy!
