Super Easy and Simple DIY Cappuccino Yogurt

Super Easy and Simple DIY Cappuccino Yogurt

You know when there is something you used to be able to buy without any problem that was such a treat and elevated one of your favourite things and now you can not find it anywhere? Cappuccino yogurt is that food for me. In fact it is not something that has been readily available at some of the stores I used to go to. As a result I tried making it myself with fancy sugar coffee syrups but they never worked. They never tasted the way I wanted them to and then I came across the tip!

Through a secret but totally awesome “foodie source” I heard that you could make cappuccino yogurt easily overnight using instant coffee! This idea originally comes from fitness guru Rosalie Brown who you can see on The Shopping Channel demonstrating fitness equipment.

My Test Kitchen

I was meaning to pick up some decaf instant coffee anyway so I can try the online recipe challenge of making Dalgona coffee. I got Nescafe because there is no other instant coffee that exists in my family and my secret source used it too.

Now there was not an official “recipe” that I could find so I had to play it by ear.

I filled up a little one serving jar with my favourite vanilla yogurt and sprinkled about half a teaspoon of instant coffee on top. I covered it with plastic wrap and let it sit overnight in the fridge.

Sure enough, the coffee dissolved!!!

Quite perfectly I might add.

Yummy… LOL.

Wow! It completely melded and combined with the vanilla yogurt!

Seriously? That looks store bought! So, how did it taste?

Foodie Results

Damn!!! It was delicious! OK I might have gone a little heavy on the coffee so it was a tad bitter for my sweet tooth tastes but the flavour was definitely there. The smoky coffee flavour infused throughout the entire jar of vanilla yogurt and was a total treat, one that I have been missing.

The fact that I could personally make my own decaffeinated cappuccino yogurt is extra impressive. I intend to make a lot and then freeze in an ice cube tray and use to make my own frappuccinos once it gets a tad warmer.

This was so easy to make with such an impressive outcome the idea gets five out of five wooden spoons! Especially since I have been trying to make my own cappuccino yogurt for years with absolutely disappointing results. Feel free to add more or less instant coffee depending on your personal taste.

When you are lucky to find any yogurt at the grocery stores these days, making your own fancy pants flavour so easily is a total foodie gem. Thank you secret foodie source and Rosalie Brown! This foodie idea is a treasure.

That is very cool! People pooh-pooh instant coffee but I like it too — Nescafe Rich Blend of course! I’m going to give this a try too, because vanilla yogurt is not my fave but I would enjoy it more as cappuccino yogurt!

Yes! That’s such a classic isn’t it Debra? My mom’s favourite and my brother and sister have it too. I hope you like it as much as I did! I know, vanilla can be so… vanilla, LOL. This adds a ton of flavour and I swear it’s just like the one I used to get in Vancouver I had to hunt for. Enjoy!!!

I LOVE this idea Suzie and had not thought of doing this. Very, very fun. I don’t have that kind of coffee but I do have espresso powder for baking so I’ll have to give this a go! Thanks.
