Product Review: Doritos Heatwave Tortilla Chips

The Company

Product Review: Doritos Heatwave Tortilla Chips

Doritos has done it again! Delivered a surprise box of tortilla chips goodies to my door. So exciting!

The Product

Product Review: Doritos Heatwave Tortilla Chips

The product is Heatwave BBQ & Chili Tortilla Chips which are available for a limited time.

Product Review: Doritos Heatwave Tortilla Chips

“… a bold snacking experience that creates an unexpected flavour transformation with two distinct experiences in one chip. At first you taste the great flavour of BBQ then as you crunch the chip, an explosion of chili is released flooding your mouth with a delicious wave of heat. Are you bold enough to try them?”

Product Review: Doritos Heatwave Tortilla Chips

Bold enough? Me? The spice wimp? Of course!!!

Product Review: Doritos Heatwave Tortilla Chips

You can always count on Doritos to heavily season their tortilla chips although if they are that spicy… That is kind of nerve wracking!

The Taste Test

Product Review: Doritos Heatwave Tortilla Chips

Do they start off a sweet barbecue before transforming into some serious heat? Abso-freaking-lutely! That is EXACTLY what happens! Not just to me but to Reg as well. The only difference between our experiences is I was left with an unpleasant aftertaste and he wasn’t.

Foodie Conclusion

Product Review: Doritos Heatwave Tortilla Chips

Personally I found these too hot and kind of wished they just kept their barbecue-y flavour but if you can handle the heat, #theheatwillcome, I can promise you that. Even Reg found them quite hot after a while but please note, it is a slow burn so tread slowly and enjoy them as long as you can before you have to put them down. I lasted around 7 chips and then I could not take anymore.

This product is exactly as advertised. I just wish I did not experience that bitter aftertaste after I finished eating with my mouth on fire. As a result, I give this product four out of five wooden spoons.

They’d be waaaaay too spicy for my increasingly delicate tummy too. On the other hand, I doubt if I’m in Doritos target demographic anyway, LOL!

LOL, same here! If they want fans of super-spicy I don’t think we are their people but to those who love the heat, enjoy each and every bite.

I don’t know guys! Iam an indian. It was not at alll spicy for me. Not even a bit! I ate the whole packet within minutes! And i had that aftertaste too…it wasn’t bitter…but was bad. I read several reviews, and they all were abt how spicy that chips is! So , are u guys not used to too much spice or the flavour of Doritos varies in some countries?

This totally appeals to me….but I am worried because I got hooked on the Inferno ones and…well I’m not sure a chip addiction is very good.
