OK, I am technically not going to be eating together with my sisters Jamie and Shannon on Family Day, Monday February 13th. But! I will be getting together with them to film our next episode of stART: Creating As We Go.
PC’s #EatTogether
You may have already seen PC’s video #EatTogether featuring Sarah Blackwood’s cover of “What the World Needs Now is Love”. I loved it immediately. As someone who grew up in a big family, it is hard for me to eat alone.
What appeals to me most about the video is that it is not just about family members unplugging and being together, it is about the human race doing so. It is about being present with one another and extending the circle of eating beyond family.
I may not get to sit down and have a meal with my family on Family Day but we are spending time with each other. We will be using the power of technology to hang out with each other despite being thousands of miles apart.
Wherever you are this Family Day, I hope you are able to connect and maybe eat with those you love as well as reach out to those you don’t know. Remember, not everyone has a family. Also, family does not have to be just a biological connection. We are all a part of the same world.
I would be lost without the internet but the longer and farther I am away from family, the more cognizant I become of how imperative human connection is.
Sarah Blackwood’s cover of “What the World Needs Now is Love” featured in the #EatTogether film is available for purchase on iTunes. All available proceeds will be donated to President’s Choice Children’s Charity.
