If there was ever a time to learn how to make your own super immunity candy, it is now. I was shocked at how easy gummies are to make! You can make them out of anything, from juice to your own homemade syrups. The key is the gelatin. You are going to want to have a lot of gelatin, especially now that summer is here.
I use MagiclaButter products in this post but it is not necessary. I am doing product testing and thought this would be a perfect test but feel free to just make a stovetop syrup and use the molds that you already have!
I will admit that these are a bit medicine-tasting but that is why I made them. To help easily boost my immunity while chewing on candy. Feel free to add other juices and flavours to make them your own. This is a very basic recipe but packs a powerful healthy punch.
The Products
I do have to take a moment and say, look at these molds!!! Aren’t they gorgeous? I love that MagicalButter is now focusing on the word “magic” when it comes to their marketing. The molds are strong and are this stunning artsy blue colour.
My favourite part is they come with a lid!!! Sturdy with a lid. That makes gummy making in a very stuffed fridge easier and much less messy.
The Syrup
You will need: 3/4 cup dried elderberries, 2 cups water and 3/4 cup sugar (you could use a sugar substitute if you prefer, maybe try it with honey?).
Stovetop: Put everything into a medium sauce pan over medium high heat. Bring to a boil and then simmer for 5 minutes. Strain. Cool to room temperature. Chill.
MagicalButter Machine: put everything inside.
Select oil setting at 130F for 1 hour.
Seriously beautiful tools too!
Strain using the filter bag and Love Glove.
Cool to room temperature. Chill.
You will have a lot of syrup so feel free to freeze the extra in ice cube trays and then add to berry smoothies for more immunity boosting!
The Gummies
For the gummies you will need: 1/4 cup cold elderberry syrup, squeeze of fresh lemon juice, 4 tbsp gelatin for extra firm gummies, 1/4 cup hot elderberry syrup, 1 tbsp clear corn syrup and a pinch of salt.
Sprinkle gelatin over cold syrup and lemon juice. Let sit 10 minutes.
Warm up 1/4 cup of elderberry syrup. Add gelatinous mixture and whisk until dissolved. Do not boil or go too hot!
Add corn syrup and salt. Whisk together.
Divvy between molds.
Put in fridge and let set.
These mold are amazing! I love that they have lids to cover them and the silicon is so strong they do not bend easily like other molds.
Pop out of molds and have one a day when you need that immunity boost.

Medicine never looked so good!!!
Right out of the fridge at this size they are actually quite hard because of all the gelatin. When it is warm and if they are not going to be kept in the fridge this amount of gelatin is necessary. If you are going to store them in the fridge you could probably get away with only 3 tbsp of gelatin.
Listening to the MagicalButter Machine eviscerate the berries and extract everything from them will never get old for me! Or their funky light show as it works. I continue to be impressed with the many ways you can use this machine. The budding herbalist in me is super excited and I have been enjoying those gummies on a regular basis for a while now. Love having low dose herbal candy I made myself from real elderberries than buying stuff from the store with who knows what is in it.
Gummy making is easy. You just have to make sure to set the gelatin in a cold liquid followed by melting it without boiling it before pouring into molds. It may be the easiest candy making treat there is and this one? One of the healthiests!

That’s so cool, Suzie! But I’m sorry, whenever I hear of elderberries, all I can think of is the French Knight’s taunting of the English in “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” — “Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!”

LOL!!! That’s hysterical! Now these will always be my Holy Grail smelly candies, LOL.

Do these need to be refrigerated?
Suzie the Foodie says
If it is the winter, probably not. The summer? Definitely.
