Mandarin Restaurant

October 11, 2009 by Suzie the Foodie 6 Comments

Mandarin Restaurant

During my trip to Toronto my sister, our Mom and I took a Go Train out to Burlington to visit with Auntie Laima. My aunt and my mom treated us all to lunch at Mandarin. It has been over ten years since I have gone to this Chinese food buffet paradise!

Chinese Food Buffet

The splendor of the colours in the decor and the food got me so hungry and happy at the same time, heightened by being surrounded by the women I adore most in the world. I feasted on hot and sour soup, had a salad plate, ate lots of seafood, pork and chicken and many, many noodles. For dessert I was sad to see that there were no chocolate-covered strawberries like they used to have but I got little thin slices of strawberry mousse cake and chocolate mousse cake for a tiny nibble, followed by some refreshing Jello.

The women in my family
Before I moved away from Toronto years ago, Mandarin was a mainstay for my family and friends. For hours we would take our time enjoying the food, trying new things to eat and going back for our favourites. What a treat for me to be a part of this tradition once again.

An absolutely self-indulgent afternoon of food followed by lots of shopping, Mandarin continues it tradition of creating happy foodie memories.

It’s Mandarin, not THE Mandarin. At first I thought it was a mistake, but you did it throughout your entire post.

Those of us in Toronto are saddened by this mistake.

I freakin LOVE the Mandarin. There’s one in Niagara Falls that I go to once in a blue moon…I just wish they gave out doggy bags, as I can never eat everything my eyes can devour.
    Beautiful pics!

Well, this Torontonian calls it The Mandarin too. In fact, everyone I know does! I’m sure it doesn’t offend those who put on the amazing spread! What a treat it was to enjoy the range of dishes and the awesome company.
