It is always one of the most exciting days of the year when President’s Choice delivers a bag of goodies for me to product review! And what a lovely bag they came in for their 2017 summer foodie line.
Sneak Peek
I just about squealed when I saw their Maple Flavour Marshmallows were on the top! Two of my favourite things come together for summer roasting? Yes please.
Along with the marshmallows were other fun foodie treats to try and all perfect for summer indulging. Great timing too. My cupboards are totally bare!
PC Maple Flavour Marshmallows
Maple Flavour Marshmallows were created by President’s Choice so they could provide a new take on s’mores.
I wanted to try them as-is before doing anything fancy pants to the marshmallows and wow, so soft and I could taste the maple. It is subtle because it is natural maple flavour but it is there.
Roasting Marshmallows In The Kitchen
It is too hot to put on the broiler so I tried roasting the marshmallow over my electric burner. Sure enough I saw some smoke coming from the bottom.
Wow!!! I had no idea you could roast marshmallows so easily on an electric stove! Why has no one ever told me this before? A foodie friend on Facebook also told me that she has used a toaster to toast them. I never!!!
Foodie Conclusion
I thought these were good before I toasted them. After toasting? My knees went weak!!!
Everything got all nice and melty and delicious. This blew me away.
I do not have graham crackers to make s’mores but if I did, these would be the perfect marshmallows for them. Wide and flat in comparison to square will make them the perfect fit for summer time treats.
I love this product and find nothing wrong with it. It gets a rare five out of five wooden spoons from me and I hope they make these available for us every summer. Foodie perfection.
Lots more product reviews to come!
That is a super cool marshmallow idea!
Thank you! My sister Jamie and I were talking about how we couldn’t believe we hadn’t thought of doing this as kids. Growing up in Toronto, we had zero experience with campfires. Ever! So I rarely got to have a toasted marshmallow growing. Guess I am making up for lost time. These suckers won’t be lasting long.
