Product Review of McCafé’s Oreo Cookie Coffee Frappuccino

Product Review of McCafé's Oreo Cookie Coffee Frappuccino

I found out from the McDonald’s newsletter that there is now such a thing as a McCafé Oreo Cookie Coffee Frappé. This got me excited because it meant their coffee iced frappé is back (OMG, I love them!) and it also meant there was something new for me to product test without spending mega bucks. Sweet.

But wait!

I had such a disappointing day at Make It! Vancouver I stopped by McD’s and got the coffee iced frappe´which usually cheers me up. But look, they put whipped cream on it! Blech! I hate whipped cream. If you look at my original product review of this drink you will see… No whipped cream. It also tasted weaker, not as coffee-y flavoured. Sigh…

After not being super thrilled with the coffee version, the next time I was there I ordered the Oreo Cookie Coffee Frappé and no whipped cream, thank you very much.

I got a snack-sized because I knew this was not my kind of product but realized there were people out there who like the idea of cookies and coffee.

Yes, you definitely get Oreo cookie crumbs on top of the frappé.

And throughout. I am super sensitive about texture so the idea of this repulses me on a fundamental level but I am doing this FOR YOU my foodie friends!

No, I did not finish it. I just couldn’t. The crumbs! Oh the crumbs…

LOL, that said, it tasted pretty much like what I expected. A coffee frappé with Oreo cookie crumbs. It was not over-the-top sweet which was impressive and did not turn my stomach which was actually very impressive considering I hate Oreo cookies.

The one thing I am really not happy about was the price. Almost $3 for the teeny tiny snack size?! Ridiculous. I think McDonald’s may be trying to dress up their drinks a little to get more money for specialty coffee drinks. One of the reasons I always go to them over the “other guys” in the summer for my cold beverage treat is the price. They are usually half the price and usually taste better. Now they come with whipped cream and are more expensive. Not happy about that at all.

As a result, I can only give this product three out of five wooden spoons. Cheaper and it would have gotten a higher rating.

If you love the idea of this drink and do not mind paying what I consider a high price for it, you will like it.

It just is not my foodie thing…

I love Oreo milkshakes at Jack in the Box so maybe I would like these too. I don’t mind the crunchy all the way through OR the whipped cream. But, I am trying my best to lose some weight so I will have to live vicariously through you, Suzie. Thanks!
