We had incredible weather during our time off together this summer, tons of sunshine. We did not get out to enjoy it very much but we tried.
But first the irony. When our staycation started we went out and bought a ton of fresh food to enjoy at home and then all hell broke loose. BTW, McDonald’s peach smoothie kind of rocks.
I found out that Tim Horton’s serves breakfast until noon which is good for people like me and Reg, we are not morning people. I also discovered that their breakfast sandwich on a tea biscuit is pretty awesome. I am grateful, not too expensive a breakfast to help with those stressful mornings when you want to bang your head against a wall.
Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market
I really wanted to go downtown to the Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market at least once on our vacation. We do not live in town so this would be our big trip for the rare afternoon for us to enjoy.
A total ghost town. The place was practically desserted. I could not believe it. It was a sunny Friday in the summer and maybe 25% of the vendors were there. Maybe! I guess the market is only really open on the weekends.
The good news is I got to try an Asian steamed BBQ pork bun for lunch for only $3! It was good but I have had better ones in Toronto and Vancouver. Too much bun, needs more filling.
Because there was no one down there we had the whole rooftop patio to ourselves. We charged our solar batteries there big time and watched the boats go by. Then we headed for the boardwalk.
I finally made it back to Cows which was a long walk from the market so I deserved a treat.
I had to choose between ice cream and the Milking Dead t-shirt you voted for me to pick. No contest! Especially when I saw, “Grains… Grains!” on the back of the shirt. I am thrilled to finally have this t-shirt!
Not exactly the staycation we were hoping for but we got some sun, spent time downtown and had some unexpected fast food treats. And speaking of treats!
President’s Choice has sent me a new gift bag as well as a gift card for me to explore some of their new Insider’s Report products and there have been quite a few surprises already. Coverage starts tomorrow!
Summer is wrapping up and life changes will soon be starting. I will be sharing information about my Cooking School for Delinquents on my blog soon but to hear about it first, you just need to sign up and it is free!

“Grains . . . Grains!” *snort* Oh, those Cows people — they are Masters of the Pun!

We never made it to Cows when we were there. Unfortunately for us, we hit the one week that had all the fog and rain 🙁 We’ll have to make sure we go there next time.

They really are the Masters of the Pun Debra, totally classic. They even wrote back on Twitter, “Looks good on Moo!”
Furkidsmom, oh what a shame! Cow’s is worth the trip but ice cream in the rain can be a bummer. Maybe next time?

We always say we’re going somewhere else….and always end up in Nova Scotia. We have friends that own a B&B in Lawrencetown Beach and who, coincidently, winter right near where we live so we feel like home up there.

It’s always fun to do a staycation. Can’t wait for your reviews on PC.
