Last year when I returned home from a trip to Toronto I found out that Crispy Minis are gluten-free. As May is Celiac Awareness Month it is a perfect time for us to learn what gluten and gluten sensitivities really are, and how they impact many Canadians.
Which is so funny because when I stay with my sister Jamie and her husband Justin, we often snack on Crispy Minis as we stay up through the night chatting together.
See at first when I went to Toronto indefinitely, I was making milkshakes on Monday and other treats. The longer I stayed I started to realize, uh oh… Those calories are going to add up!
So at night we enjoyed these healthier rice treats that are packed with flavour! And then I found out they are ALSO gluten-free, LOL. Damn!
Crispy Minis have taken things up a notch now with their tortilla style Smoky Chipotle and Cheesy Nacho rice chips.
Damn straight! The rice chips are covered in flavour and are incredibly crispy. I have no idea how they made them so much like mini tortillas but they did an awesome job. These truly do taste like cheesy nachos.
Their Smoky Chipotle Rice Chips taste so much like a real barbecue and are super-smokey. Look at that flavour foodies!
Reg and I enjoyed these yesterday and agreed, we could not decide on which ones we liked more. Both were so flavourful and crazy-crispy!
The new flavours do not end there either: Sweet Chili? Sea Salt & Lime? So much to explore! I am so grateful that there are so many options for Celiac foodies to enjoy with complete freedom.
I still have the “For my next mini moment” clip they sent me last year and use it all the time!
I also received their Popcorn Flavour Rice Cakes which are also gluten-free!
As I was munching on this large treat it made me laugh. I sat on my couch and realized, hey, on those nights I am just too tired to make popcorn (yes, I do get that tired) I could eat this and have the flavour without the effort! Lazy Foodie’s Popcorn. Love it!
I believe wholeheartedly in foodie freedom and am honoured to have been asked to write my review of Quaker’s Crispy Minis and let people know of Celiac Awareness Month. I may not have issues with gluten but my heart sincerely goes out to those who suffer from this affliction. May you enjoy each and every bite of whatever product you try and so far? So far, I have not been disappointed at all. In any way. Which is kind of mind-blowing because I am pretty darn picky.
Gluten avoidance should not mean compromising taste: Certified gluten-free by the Canadian Celiac Association, Crispy Minis rice chips are a perfect example of a gluten-free snack that comes in a variety of delicious flavours. Foodie freedom for everyone!

I haven’t had any Crispy Minis for a long time. I used to enjoy the cheddar ones. I should try some of these new flavours!

If you like the cheddar, you would probably really enjoy the nachos ones! Very flavourful. 🙂
