My First VIP Movie Experience… HALLOWEEN!!!

My First VIP Movie Experience... HALLOWEEN!!!

For the record, I HATE elitism of any kind. BUT! For something as special as getting to see the new Halloween movie with the same friends I watched the second movie with at a Halloween party back in grade 6? I could not say no! And I am so glad I didn’t.

The Theatre

My First VIP Movie Experience... HALLOWEEN!!!

We went to the one at Don Mills and ALL their theatres are VIP. I think that says a little something about the caliber of this mall.

Do you see the menu popping up for us to go through in front of like we were on a plane?

We literally could have eaten dinner here as we watched the movie. We stayed pretty traditional except for the mini donuts which were fantastic.

I will not mention how long ago that Halloween party was but will say that I think it solidified our collective love of scary movies. Screaming and huddling together watching a movie completely inappropriate for our age group at the time made me realize that being scared can be fun! I was hooked.

The Food

My First VIP Movie Experience... HALLOWEEN!!!

When it came to ordering the food, we had a server come right up to us to take our order. They charged and gave me for a large popcorn when I asked for a small one. BTW, they do not do things like “combos”.

They also do not do things like “slushies”. Instead I got a virgin strawberry daiquiri! Talk about fancy pants!

The Movie

OK, it was scary. Mike Meyers will always be scary. Jamie Lee Curtis was so good in it, man, I just adore her. Is it a perfect movie? No. Did we bite our nails while watching it, cringing and freaking out in our big leather chairs? Yes! I was completely in knots by the time the film was over. It was AWESOME!

More Food

My First VIP Movie Experience... HALLOWEEN!!!

I love the fact that the Don Mill VIP Movie Theatre has its own cafe/restaurant so you can sit, order a drink and yes, eat more food and then discuss the movie. We also had a lot of catching up to do so we closed the place.

I wish I could say the brownie was great, it was good in some places but dry in others. I got an adult coffee and it was a little cold, my friend’s was too and Dawn The Foodie Realtor got the smallest martini on the planet. This part was not impressive.

This was such a special event for me but I probably will not be back for a while because it sure is not cheap. That said, if I ever disappear one day you may find me living at this theatre. It has so many things I love, it is a complete oasis. Movies, food, movies, food… I think I may have found my personal nirvana in Toronto!

This was seriously one of the coolest things I have ever done. I loved every second of it and can not wait to do it again for another special movie occasion. Pet Semetery perhaps?

I had a similar type theater experience when I visited home in New Orleans with friends. What a blast! It lovely to hear you had so much fun revisiting the past while trying something new.
Pet Cemetery will be on our movie list for sure. We’ve checked out the trailer for it online.
This movie theater looks like it would be fun to check out if we get to do a trip back through Toronto in the future.

Heidi, would definitely recommend checking out the Don Mills VIP Theatre if you come for a visit and are a big movie fan like I am. It’s super decadent but I was so physically comfortable because of the comfortable chair and all that leg room. What a treat.
