Although this sauce is made with a liqueur, it can easily be made with blueberry juice or just with blueberries to create this stunningly delicious sauce that will be better than anything you buy in a store.
The Inspiration
Reg received this beautiful bottle of Okanagan Spirits Craft Distillery Blueberry Liqueur as a gift and I wanted to honour it with a special sauce.
The Recipe
In a small sauce pan add 1/2 cup Blueberry Liqueur (or blueberry wine or juice), 1/2 cup sugar and 1 cup blueberries.
If you do not have any blueberry liquid then add 1/2 cup sugar and 2 cups blueberries to sauce pan.
Bring to a boil then bring down to a simmer for five minutes.
Add 1 tbsp cornstarch + 3 tbsp cold water slurry to the sauce. Whisk until thickened.
Take sauce off heat and add 1 tsp vanilla and a pinch of salt.

Absolutely delicious! Serious blueberry flavour that took my blueberry pancakes over the top with its deep and stunning flavour.
It really added a huge punch of berry-ness to the wildberry ice cream I made too.
Fruit sauces are so easy to make and absolutely worth it. One of the simplest ways to add flavour and richness to any brunch or dessert.
BTW, Okanagan Spirits Craft Distillery Blueberry Liqueur is absolutely delicious! If I was a drinker, I would have downed the entire bottle.

Looks yummy, but probably without the blueberry liquor. Love using heated fruit over my pancakes instead of syrup!
