Chocolate Strawberry Turnovers

Food has the power to transport us to anywhere in the world. No matter where you go, people eat. Each country will have thousands upon thousands of recipes, distinctly part of their culture. We all have food in common and food is powerful. It really can take you places.

When I asked people where in the world they would like to go through food my dear friend the lovely Shell of Swan of Dreamers requested I visit Paris pastry shops. Yes! Perfect. There is nothing like beautiful pastries to help us travel to the culinary world of France.

When I started to prepare for this particular food journey, I was surprised that finding recipes for strawberry turnovers was a bit of a challenge. It was not traditional! Seeing as strawberries were on sale and I did not have any apples to make the traditional turnover with, I set out and created my own recipe and added a bit of dark chocolate to the mix.

Ooh la la! They were absolutely divine and are going in the cookbook! Two strawberry recipes so far, I’m wondering if anyone would buy a small recipe book just about baking and cooking with strawberries? LOL.

Yesterday I needed to escape. I had an extremely bad day that just kept getting worse. I have never been a comfort food kind of person. When things get bad I usually stop eating. I was determined to escape to Paris yesterday though and I am so glad I did. Creating with food helped get me out of my anger-storm and cheered up my husband too, who had also had a very bad day.

I am so glad I went to Paris yesterday through food. One day I hope to go to a pâtisserie in Paris in real life but for now, my chocolate strawberry turnovers will be enough.

Oh, Suzie, I love them already!!! I adore strawberries and there aren’t nearly enough recipes for them. (I had a strawberry crisp recipe once that had a bit of almond-ish dough dropped on top instead of the traditional crumble… and I lost the recipe! 🙁 )

I’m so looking forward to buying your cookbook one day. 🙂

You and I both will be at the patisserie in Paris someday. For now, what a beautiful pastry you made. I can imagine the taste of the strawberry and chocolate right now. Delicious. I’m glad taking this culinary trip to Paris brightened your day. Hugs to you, Suzie.

Strawberries and chocolate! C’est magnifique! It sounds delicious. I know a few people who would be willing to buy a book with only strawberry recipes. ;D Hope things start looking up soon.
