Merry Christmas and Pass The Starbucks Fruitcake Frappé

December 24, 2016 by Suzie the Foodie 12 Comments

This year for Christmas I am sick. Again! I have used all my energy to try and be festive and get out buying stocking stuffers for Reg and all that foodie jazz.

I did also go see Reg’s Kung Fu school perform so we got a little bit of kung fu Christmas into the mix.

While I waited for Reg to go to London Drugs to do my Christmas stocking stuffer shopping I went to Starbucks.

I ordered their Fruitcake Frappuccino thanks to my friend Jessica who told me about it.

Actually hers was a hot beverage! Mine was not and it was filled with dried fruit and nuts and topped with matcha powder.

I liked it as much as I like fruit cake… Not at all! LOL. But they did a fantastic job recreating the flavours (and OMG, the textures!) of a fruit cake in a frappé. Very impressive and no, I will never have it again.

We have our Icy Squares (thank you Superstore!), my roast beef is coming up to room temperature before going in the crockpot for Christmas Eve dinner and I may actually have a little time today to bake. Imagine that! I am also hoping to make some fudge and my mom’s Latvian bacon buns.

This is one of my mom’s ornaments. It is hard to be away from family and friends at this time of year and even harder when those we have loved, we have also lost. That said, making the foods from our past helps bring their essence into our kitchens at this special time of year.

Happy Holidays Foodies! Let’s make some wonderful new foodie memories together.
