Oh President’s Choice, how do you do it? How do you know the exact moment I need your help in the kitchen and then send me treats to indulge in when I have no time and opportunity to cook from scratch in my kitchen. It’s incredible and I am grateful for your help.
You can watch the video of all the treats President’s Choice recently sent me, including PC Memories Of Alabama Creamy Barbecue Sauce.
Yes, it is a creamy barbecue sauce! But when you read the label it says it is actually a finishing sauce. From the web site: “Like the one we tried, ours has a mayo base and big Southern flavour. A barbecue game changer for chicken, fish and pork. Also a phenomenal dip.”
The labels does not mention beef as one of its recommendations but that is what I had. I got out the PC Thick & Juicy Double Prime Sliders Mini Beef Burgers I had in the freezer and got to grilling. FYI: these are way too thick. I had them on the grill forever and they were still pink in the middle.
I had to cut the sliders in half and grill them upright with the middle against the grill. I put them on an Everything bagel and slathered with the finishing sauce.
Foodie Conclusion
President’s Choice is right. This is much more suited to more subtle-flavoured foods like fish and chicken. It can not compete with beef and is much thinner than I was expecting.
I ran out of salsa last night so used it as a finishing sauce for my chicken quesadillas and it was pretty good. I must admit, I was not wowed. I really thought there would be more punch and it would be thicker but it is an interesting idea, a finishing sauce.
I do look forward to trying it on grilled chicken and fish next. For now, I give this product three and a half out of five wooden spoons.
Almost picked this up a couple of weeks ago – intriguing – as they suggested it could be used for a coleslaw dressing. Hmm, glad I didn’t. Do you think it would make a good coleslaw dressing, Suzie?
Interesting idea Janet! It is not a bad sauce, just very subtle so it may do for a coleslaw with a bit of extra flavour to it. I just thought there would be “more”, you know? It is also quite thin so you might want to use a regular mayo and add some of the sauce to boost the flavour a bit.
This Janet used it in coleslaw and potato salad on Canada Day … it needs the punch of mayo for sure (I liked it mixed w/balsamic hellmans)
That’s what I thought it might need – thanks, Janet, for testing it out 😉 I’ll take a pass and just make my regular coleslaw dressing!
I don’t like it.
I’d rather have my money back.
Then ask for it Oreck! PC stores are very good about returns so ask for your money back.
Works great for potato salad.
