Another fabulous foodie item that was in my President’s Choice Mystery Bag was their PC Cooked Peeled Responsibly Farmed Jumbo Pacific White Shrimp.
Thawing Method #1
I tried the thaw-overnight method so I could make one of my favourite dishes for lunch the next day.
Taste Test #1
My spicy noodles! I did not want them to be over cooked so I tossed them in the hot noodles and they were fantastic. Great texture and flavour.
Thawing Method #2
The bag directs us to remove shrimp from the bag and place in colander under cold running water, stirring carefully to ensure even thawing. Then let drain for 2 minutes.
Mine were still pretty darn frozen. I had to put them under the water again to get them thawed.
Taste Test #2
I think the real test for this kind of product is to have the shrimp straight up with seafood cocktail… Old school!
Beautiful. The shrimp are perfectly clean, flavour is great and the texture is firm, not tough. I actually found it hard to believe these were frozen shrimp.
Now some people are just not going to like that these shrimp are farm-raised despite being certified to the ASC’s standard for responsibly farmed seafood. Me? I care about quality of product.
The one thing I do not like is I just noticed they sent me a package that expired on December 27, 2016! Not happy about that.
Overall, these shrimp were delicious and a treat. Sadly I do not know how much they cost in the store so giving them a rating is a tad challenging. If they are a lot more expensive than other shrimp, I would say do not spend the extra money. If they are cheaper, I say, go for it.
For flavour, I give PC Cooked Peeled Responsibly Farmed Jumbo Pacific White Shrimp four out of five wooden spoons. When it comes to getting me safe seafood, kind of a FAIL!
Please note that since writing this post PC has written and called me to apologize for sending the post-expiration date shrimp! It is the first time this has ever happened, for both of us.

Hello I purchaed one of your shrimp platters with dipping sauce wow the shrimp was amazing plump very meaty way better then a lot of other brands I’ve tried and I’m a sea food craver big time and I’m very picky on what I call good sea food do to fa ily in New Brunswick and eating the best all the time as I was saying very plump meaty shrimp no stinky smell like some brands have that slight fishy Oder and I usually throw it out if that’s the cas but easy to pull the shell tail and definitely you get your money’s worth with it having a second layer under the first row that I was unaware of when I purchased it so amazing value for my buck but saddly I’m not impressed with the cocktail sauce it is overly sour, vinegary above any normal amount making it very unpleasant with every pucker on each bite and a odd taste on the pallet had several guest say the same that the sauce needs some serious redo on the recipe for the cocktail sauce that would make this platter in my opinion the best out the top 10 out there thanks and please hope your coctai sauce is seriously re.recipe with out all that vinegar Thanks sincerely A President’s Choice fan!

Good to know that you are happy with the shrimp but the cocktail sauce is lacking! You can usually leave reviews directly on the PC site so they know for sure and can do something about it. Thanks for letting me know April!
