Secret Family Recipe for Veggie Dip

November 5, 2009 by Suzie the Foodie 7 Comments

Veggie Dip

Here is another secret family recipe, this time for a veggie dip. I have no idea how long we have been making this recipe. Seems like forever and this is one we all eat and enjoy! The recipe is super simple and easy to make.

Veggie Dip

Pick up a package of Knorr Vegetable soup and using a rolling pin, roll everything into dust as much as you can without ripping the package. Now the ratio of mayonnaise to sour cream differs according to who is making the dip in the family. You want a total of 2 cups between the mayonnaise and sour cream, I prefer a little more sour cream to mayo so it is usually a 65% sour cream, 35% mayo:

Veggie Dip

Mix it all together and let the flavours develop in the fridge.

Veggie Dip

See! I told you it was super easy. There is a lovely deep tang from the dehydrated vegetables in this dip and we love it. I always make mine with calorie and fat reduced mayonnaise and sour cream which may make this an almost-healthy snack to munch on.

I usually end up using a can of soup – usually a can of mushroom soup as if I’m making dip I tend to have those on hand.

I *love* this recipe. I love how simple it is – 3 ingredients and takes like 10 min to make and it tasty tasty goodness.

Thanks Em! I came up with that one myself. 🙂

A can of soup?! OK, now that really is genius Shannon.

It is so simple isn’t it Shannon and yet so few people seem to know about this one? It’s like what French Onion dip is to chips but in this case, to vegetables!

Yummy! I like the rolling trick too. I think I’d go heavy on sour cream – I love that tang!

Yum! I would prefer more sour cream to mayonnaise as well. And I never thought of putting the rolling pin to that use. I don’t even have a rolling pin. I know. Pathetic! 🙂

This looks delicious – definitely would beat our way, which is a tub of sour cream and lipton’s onion soup mix! Knorr has such tasty soups, this one should be a winner. I think I’d go heavier on the sour cream over the mayo, too. ~ Belle
