Product Review of Smartfood’s Newest Flavour – Gouda & Chive Popcorn

Reg and I LOVE Smartfood! We enjoyed taste testing their Jalapeño & Cheddar and my favourite is their Creamy Dill so when they wrote me and said they wanted to send me a new flavour I of course said, “How soon can you get here?”

The Delivery

Well not in those exact words but not that long after I said yes please this package was delivered to my door.

The Products

The new flavour is Gouda & Chive but I also received White Cheddar and Jalapeño Cheddar. Popcorn Nirvana!

It is all part of their #smartstash campaign and did I need some me time? Heck ya. My site got hacked over the weekend. Needed to drown some of those foodie woes with some flavoured popcorn.

The Main Event

The Gouda & Chive Smartfood was the main event. Specialty cheese with herby chives? I loved the flavour combination.

The Taste Test

Yes, yes, yes it all sounds good in theory but how does it taste?

Reg came home after a long and challenging day and we broke into the bag and attacked.

Foodie Conclusion

We decimated that bag in what felt like seconds. This popcorn is creamy, cheesy and oniony. It delivers on its promise to give you all the flavours and actually contains chives:

“Popcorn, vegetable oil, seasoning (corn maltodextrin, buttermilk powder, onion powder, salt, sugar, natural flavours, cheddar cheese powder, herbs [contains chives], garlic powder, skim milk powder, gouda cheese, acacia gum, colour)”

So not only is there gouda in there you also get cheddar cheese powder and is it ever smart to use buttermilk powder! I gotta try that on my own popcorn some time.

Reg loved it and thought Smartfood’s Gouda & Chive was pretty darn perfect. I really liked it but I wanted it to have even MORE flavour. Then again, you also have to remember, their creamy dill is my favourite because I prefer extreme flavours.

A delicious cheesy onion take on popcorn that I will happily keep in my #smartstash. I give this product four out of five wooden spoons.
