Product Review of Blender Boyz Smoothies (As Seen On Dragons’ Den)

Product Review of Blender Boyz Smoothies (As Seen On Dragons’ Den)

With my review of Blender Boyz’ Iced Capps complete, it was time to move on to their single serving smoothie mixes.

First was their strawberry banana smoothie. Once again you needed 1 cup of ice but this time you could add water, milk, cream, yogurt or soy milk to the drink. I decided to go for yogurt since that is how we like our smoothies.

I loved that the smoothie tasted completely “real,” confirming that they did use strawberries and banana puree. But… So sweet!!! Like, almost too sweet to drink. The pouch alone is 210 calories but unlike the iced capps, you could REALLY taste it. Wowza!

Next we tried the Tropical Paradise, again with vanilla yogurt.

Even though it was only 210 calories, again so sweet! Tasted real and had great flavour but woah, too sweet.

Last was the berry smoothie mix.

This time I made it with milk, hoping to cut back on sweetness that may be in the yogurt.

Despite being 220 calories, this one did taste less sweet so perhaps if you are going to make this with yogurt, do so with unflavoured and unsweetened yogurt. This one had great ZING flavour to it that we liked a lot.

I make smoothies every day with unsweetened juices so this was a bit of a shocker for me. Definitely more of a dessert than a health food drink. That said, if I ever run out of real fruit for my smoothie, I will try their pureed drink mixes. But! I will add more ice to dilute it.

Great flavour, cool idea for a product but even for me, too sweet. I give Blender Boyz smoothie mixes three and a half out of five wooden spoons.

Neat how they make these things, go on that show and then get into the stores.

Yes, Dragons’ Den has been one of my favourite shows for a while. It has been around longer than Shark Tank!

I don’t know the history but yes, I thought Dragon’s came first and then one of the guys from that show came here? I dunno if that’s right. I don’t have TV, so I just catch stuff here and there online. But I’ve always enjoyed it. In fact, I own a Squaty Potty. Though, I might be replacing them with a stool. We have two. Did you see that one? The things they come up with on those shows. Amazing.

I’m Canadian and have watched dragons den several times over… all the seasons. Proud Canadian! Are there smoothies that are less or not sweetened that you’d recommend? I too don’t like sweetened ones, Id rather add my own sweetness.
