Sun-Maid Raisin Waffle Toast

Sun-Maid Cinnamon Swirl Raisin Bread

The foodie fairies left a box of Sun-Maid Cinnamon Swirl Raisin Bread on my doorstep the other day with a request for me to try one of their recipe with this loaf of bread. I can’t say no to foodie fairies so I decided to try their Raisin Waffle Toast because you know just how much I love using my waffle iron now!

The Recipe

Sun-Maid Raisin Waffle Toast

While heating up the waffle iron whisk together 3 eggs, 3 tbsp of milk, 2 tbsp packed brown sugar and 1/4 tsp vanilla in a shallow bowl.

Dip raisin bread into mixture one slice at a time.

Place in waffle iron and close iron.  I sprayed my waffle iron with canola oil ahead of time.

Grill until golden and baked through, around 3 minutes. See how they fit perfectly in my waffle iron! How cool is that?

The cinnamon bread toasted up quite nicely and created those waffled pockets to hold copious amounts of syrup for a special weekend brunch.

What a treat! At first I thought it was odd that there would be so many eggs and so little milk, thinking this would be more like a French toast. But all that egg gave the bread the structure to change into a waffle and get crisp.

As much as we enjoyed these super easy waffles, I used the rest of the bread to make classic French toast which was divine!

I give this recipe four out of five wooden spoons.
